What is Value Added Tax (EU/UK VAT)

Modified on Thu, 31 Jul at 3:52 PM

Value Added Tax (VAT) is a consumption tax applied to the value of goods and services purchased in the European Union and the United Kingdom.

The specific tax rate varies by country. As the name suggests, this tax is added to the price of the product or service at the time of purchase and is paid directly to the relevant tax authority.
