Hidden adds sales tax to certain Fan payments made in the USA. Here’s how it works and why.
Why sales tax applies
Many US states have passed laws requiring “online marketplaces” and marketplace facilitators to apply sales tax to transactions. Originally aimed at larger streaming services, these laws are now interpreted in ways that affect many types of companies, including Hidden.
When you’ll be charged
Whether sales tax applies to a Fan payment depends on the Fan’s location and the type of payment. Not all states require sales tax, and not all payment types are taxable.
If sales tax applies in your location, you’ll see an extra line item for it on your receipt. Each state sets its own rate, which can vary depending on where the Fan is located.
Where the tax goes
The sales tax Hidden collects is paid directly to your local state authorities.
