Copyright and music
Last updated 10 August 2026
Post your own work, or work you have the rights to use. Content that infringes someone else's copyright is not permitted, and where we receive a valid complaint the content is removed.
Removals are not something we can undo on request, so it is worth getting this right before you post.
What this covers
Video and images made by someone else
Logos, brand assets, and designs you have not been licensed to use
Written work, including copies of articles, books, or documents
Music and audio, including anything playing in the background
Content reposted from elsewhere without permission, including your own work if you have signed exclusive rights away
Crediting the owner is not the same as having permission, and neither is a claim that the use is fair or personal, since selling access to content makes it commercial.
Music is the usual one
A track playing in the room while you film is still that recording being published alongside your work, and rights holders do complain about it. Buying the song or owning the album does not give you the right to include it.
Licensed or royalty-free audio avoids the problem entirely, and so does filming without music. If a post is removed on a music complaint, the rest of the post goes with it, which is a frustrating way to lose something you spent time on.
If someone has taken your work
If your content has been posted on Hidden by someone else, tell us with the links and we will act on it.
If it has been taken to another site, tell us anyway. We cannot remove things from platforms we do not run, but we can explain the route and help with anything here.
If a complaint against you is wrong
Tell us, with whatever shows you hold the rights. A licence, a receipt, or proof the work is yours usually settles it.
Get in touch rather than reposting the same content, since a second removal is treated more seriously than the first.
