Why can't I subscribe to a Creator?

There are only a few reasons this happens. Work through them in this order.

You are already subscribed
This is the most common cause. Check Account, then Active Subscriptions. If the creator is listed there, you already have access and there is nothing more to buy.
The creator has blocked you
A blocked account cannot be subscribed to. Creators choose who they allow, and we do not overrule that or pass on messages about it.
Making a new account to get around a block will get that account closed too.
Your account is not set up to pay yet
Two things are needed before you can subscribe to anyone: a confirmed email address and a payment card saved to your account. Check both under Account settings.
None of the above
Then it is probably a bug, and we want to hear about it. Reload the page and try once more first, since that clears a good number of them. If it still fails, report it using the details below.

The more of this you can give us, the faster we can reproduce it and fix it.

Trying on a different device or browser is also worth a minute. If it works there, tell us that too, since it narrows down the cause considerably.
Common questions
+How do I confirm my email address?
We send a confirmation link when you sign up. If you cannot find it, check your spam folder, and request a new one from Account settings.
+Can a creator stop me from subscribing?
Yes. Creators can block anyone they choose, and we do not overrule it.
+I was charged but I am not subscribed.
Reload the page first, since access sometimes appears only after a refresh. If it is still missing, email bill@hidden.com with the date, the amount, and the creator's username.
+Do I need a card just to follow someone?
No. Following is free and needs no card. Only subscriptions and purchases do.
